Francis “Frank” Joseph Eraca Sr., 76, of Union City passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Centrica Care Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo.
A memorial mass will be held Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Fatima Catholic Church, 8220 M-60, Union City, MI.
A public graveside service will be held Friday, May 8, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Burlington Cemetery with military honors.
Frank was born December 20, 1949 in Beacon, New York to Joseph and Mary (Radabaugh) Eraca. He graduated from Beacon High School in 1969.
Soon after graduation, Frank joined the Navy where he served for through Vietnam and a shorter time with the Army totaling 18 years of service. It was in the Navy where Frank met Lona Jane Shaw, they got married at the Roosevelt Roads Naval Station and were married for 48 years before Lona’s passing in 2024.
Frank worked as the senior maintenance engineer for Konover Hotel Corporation. He was also a well-known local contractor, helping those in need within his community. He wanted to fix everything for everyone.
When Frank wasn’t working, he enjoyed the great outdoors, he even earned the silver beaver badge from Boy Scouts. That translated to his love of camping, hiking, fishing, boating, and woodworking. He also enjoyed doing whatever Lona wanted to do, which usually involved being with what he loved most, his family.
Frank is survived by his: children, Michael (Tami) Eraca of Union City, William Eraca of Burlington, and Emily Eraca of Burlington; grandchildren, Kyle, Karson, Hailey, and Daniel; and siblings, Joseph Eraca of Beacon, NY, Roy Eraca of Wappinger, NY, and Rachel Dobberman, CA.
Frank is preceded by his: parents, wife, and son, Francis Joseph Eraca Jr.
