COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A 70-year-old Quincy man is facing minimum 25 years in prison following his arraignment on Criminal Sexual Conduct charges.
Dennis Lee Ferris was arraigned in Branch County District Court Tuesday on three counts of first-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct involving a child under 13.
The charges relate to alleged incidents in June 2021 in Butler Township where Ferris is accused of having illicit sexual contact with a victim who was six or seven years old at the time.
Court documents indicate the victim was allegedly lured with gifts, shown pornographic videos, and subjected to sexual contact.
Ferris is being charged as a third-offense habitual offender due to two prior third-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct convictions in Calhoun County in 1998.
The current charges are considered Tier III offenses under Michigan Compiled Laws, carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years and lifetime electronic monitoring if convicted.
Judge Brent Weigle set Ferris’s bond at $500,000 and imposed conditions including no contact with the victim or unsupervised contact with minors.
Ferris is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on February 12, preliminary examination February 19, 2026.
