COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council passed a resolution on Monday night which approved the CBPU taking part in the DG Marshall, Michigan Solar Generation Project.
The CBPU Board of Directors approved the same resolution last Wednesday.
CBPU Director Paul Jakubczak says this project is a 10-and-a-half megawatt solar farm being developed by American Municipal Power in conjunction with NextEra Energy in Marshall.
He said in his memo to the Council that the CBPU is in need of additional renewable energy to meet the goals that were established by Public Act 235 of 2023.
According to Jakubczak, the CBPU would enter into a contract with AMP for its share of the output which equates to
2.755 megawatts.
