HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A woman sustained serious injuries Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a Hillsdale County utility vehicle in a downtown crosswalk in Hillsdale Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Michigan State Police First District, troopers from the Jackson Post assisted the Hillsdale Police Department at the scene of the crash at the intersection of McMollum Street and North Broad Street.
Preliminary investigation shows a Ford F-Series utility vehicle was traveling westbound on McMollum Street before turning south onto North Broad Street, where it struck the adult female pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The woman was initially taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a hospital in Toledo, Ohio, for further treatment. Her age and hometown have not yet been released. Authorities stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the incident.
The roadway remained closed as the investigation continued, with motorists advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
