FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – Indiana State Police investigators are renewing their call for public assistance in the 1988 unsolved killing of Fremont Town Marshall Bobby Moore.
Moore, a former Washington D.C. homicide detective and Air Force veteran, was ambushed and fatally shot outside his home on Spring Street at approximately 10:25 p.m. on July 26, 1988.
Despite decades of investigation, no suspects have ever been apprehended in what remains the only unsolved killing of a northeast Indiana police officer.
ISP Detective Commander Kevin Smith and other veteran investigators believe that at least a half-dozen people in the Steuben County and surrounding area may possess critical information about the night of the murder.
Police are urging anyone with even the smallest detail to “do the right thing” and come forward to help bring closure to the 37-year-old case. Those with information are encouraged to contact the Indiana State Police to share what they know, with the option to remain anonymous.
