BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers are heading back to Wings Events Center in Kalamazoo for the MHSAA Team Wrestling quarterfinals after they won their second straight regional championship on Wednesday night in Schoolcraft.
The Chargers took care of Galesburg-Augusta 71-12 in the semifinals and then defeated the host Schoolcraft Eagles for the regional title 46-33.

Details on the two matches were not immediately available on Wednesday night. The Chargers will wrestle at 12 noon next Friday, February 27. Their opponent will be determined by the seedings which will be released by the MHSAA on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Bronson Vikings lost in the MHSAA Division Three team wrestling regional finals to fourth ranked Lake Odessa Lakewood 42-36 on the Vikings home mat.
Bronson got pins from Layne Knisely at 215 and Sam Tappenden at 285 to grab an early 12-0 lead in the title match.
But Lakewood won the next seven matches which included four straight first period pins to take control. A pin at 165 secured the regional title for Lakewood.
