COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Property owners in the City of Coldwater are receiving their 2026 Notice of Assessment and Tax Valuations this week.
These notices serve as the baseline for upcoming tax bills, providing essential information on the property’s state equalized value and taxable value for the current year.
Michigan’s inflation cap for taxable values is set at 2.7% for 2026. Local officials encourage all property owners to review these statements thoroughly upon arrival to ensure their property has been classified and valued correctly.
Property owners who have questions or wish to protest their assessment can attend the March Board of Review, which is scheduled for March 9,10 and 11.
While the board holds an initial organizational meeting earlier in the month, these specific dates are designated for hearing appeals. For residential and agricultural properties, a protest at the local Board of Review is typically required before a further appeal can be made to the Michigan Tax Tribunal.
Residents with concerns are encouraged to contact the City Assessor’s office within the Neighborhood Services Department at 517-279-6964.
