Judy was born October 15, 1930 in Marshall, Michigan, to Vaughn and Dora (Norton) Cook. She graduated from Battle Creek Lakeview High School in 1948. June 25, 1949 she married the love of her life, Albert Aldrich, at Sonoma Methodist Church. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2007.
January 8, 1958, Judy accepted Jesus as her Savior — the most important decision of her life. From that day forward, her faith guided her every step. She did not simply speak about her love for Christ; she lived it. Judy faithfully served in her church for decades, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, leading ladies’ groups, serving on committees, and pouring herself into the lives of others. Whether as a 4-H leader, PTO volunteer, or quiet encourager, she consistently pointed young and old alike toward Jesus through her kindness, wisdom, and example.
Judy worked for the Lakeview School System and later for Southern Michigan Bank and Trust, but her greatest life’s work was loving people well. She had a servant’s heart and was always ready with a helping hand, a listening ear, or a gentle word of encouragement. Many lives were strengthened by her steady faith and generous spirit.
She found joy in simple, beautiful things — especially tending her flower gardens, sewing, knitting and baking, which reflected the same care and patience she gave to those around her. Nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She treasured attending their school and church activities and faithfully prayed for each one.
In addition to her beloved husband, Albert, Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Timothy, Kathleen, Steven, and Jeffrey; her great-grandchildren Noah Lindsley and Susanna Sauder; and her sisters, Evelyn Cook and Dorene Drake.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love in her children, Russell (Anne) Aldrich and Laura (Carl) Kennett; her 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Melvin (Sung) Cook; and countless others whose lives she touched.
Judy’s life was a testament to steadfast faith, humble service, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices knowing she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and is now at home with her Savior.
