INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WTVB) – The National Football League officially announced onTuesday, that the Detroit Lions will host a regular-season game in Munich, Germany, during the upcoming 2026 season.
The game will be held at FC Bayern Munich Stadium (Allianz Arena) and marks the Lions’ first international appearance since 2015.
While an official date and opponent have not yet been finalized, the announcement follows years of preparation, including the Lions being granted international marketing rights for Germany in 2024 through the NFL’s Global Markets Program.
The game is part of a record-setting nine-game international slate for 2026 that includes games in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Full details regarding the matchup, including the specific date and kickoff time, are expected to be released during the official NFL schedule reveal later this spring.
