QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles girls basketball team assured themselves of finishing at least .500 for the season on Tuesday night as they defeated the Springport Spartans 53-40 inside of the Coolest Gym in Michigan.
Both teams were on the struggle bus offensively in the first half as the Orioles only led 14-11 at the intermission.
After falling behind 18-17, Quincy outscored Springport 14-6 for the balance of the third quarter to take a 31-24 lead.
The Spartans pulled to within 43-38 before Kendyl Musielewicz delivered a dagger with a three-point bucket.
After being held scoreless in the first half, Musielewicz was on fire during the final 16 minutes as she finished with a game-high 22 points.
Ashlyn Fickle had eight points and seven rebounds. Josi Parker also scored eight points for Quincy.
Ciarra Brock led Springport with 15 points while Morgan Shoemaker grabbed 12 rebounds.
Quincy improved to 11-9 overall and 8-5 in the Big 8 Conference. Springport is now 7-12 overall and 5-8 in the conference.
Quincy also won the J.V. game 40-36.
