COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Development Authority approved a shorter and more concise Mission Statement on Wednesday morning following a request last month from Main Street Director Kristen Johnson.
Johnson said last month she thought the DDA’s Mission Statement should be both meaningful and concise, “so that staff, board, and volunteers can easily remember and repeat the mission when talking to key stakeholders.”
A committee consisting of three board members was formed to look further into Johnson’s recommendations.
The new Mission Statement says, ““Fostering meaningful partnerships, economic growth, and community
pride in downtown Coldwater.”
It replaces a Mission Statement that Johnson called a mouthful and almost impossible to memorize and repeat. The old statement was, “The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority works to achieve strategic growth and vibrancy of the downtown district by cultivation partnerships and development projects which promote, encourage, and contribute to its economic vitality, sense of place, and community pride.”
Board President Michael Caywood said the new Mission Statement was short and sweet.
In other business, Coldwater Community Center at the Beech House Director Kathie Bappert showed a painting of the former Putnam Funeral Home that was commissioned by Mark Putnam and presented to his father as a Christmas present in the mid 70s. She added the grand stairway in the foyer will be the next repair project. It’s hoped the work will be done by the end of March.
