BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Bronson and Quincy are the last two teams from Branch County remaining in this year’s MHSAA Boys Basketball Tournament, following wins in Wednesday’s District Semifinals.
Division 3 at Centreville
Bronson took care of business against White Pigeon, defeating the Chiefs 62-50 in the first game of a Division 3 District Semifinal doubleheader at Centreville High School.
Owen Losinski led the Vikings with 18 points, while Zeb Olson had 13 points off the bench and Layne Arver added 12 points. Bronson had to overcome a 32 point performance by White Pigeon’s Ty Strawser.
The 11-12 Vikings will play for a district title at Centreville on Friday night against the host Bulldogs. In the nightcap, Centreville scored the final eight points of the contest to take home a 59-54 victory against Union City. Issac Miller led Centreville with 22 points.
For the Chargers, whose season ended at 6-17, Nolan Chard scored a game-high 25 points, including 6 triples. Micah Payne added 16 points.
Friday’s District Final will tip off at 7 p.m. Coverage on WTVB will begin Friday at 6:45 p.m.
Division 3 at Hillsdale
At the Division 3 Hillsdale District, Quincy came back from a 30-25 halftime deficit to beat the host Hornets 59-54. Alex Dunn led the Orioles with 16 points, while J.J. Wright had 11. Braylon Estlow set the QHS single-season three-point record by draining his 67th triple of the season; he finished the night with 15 points.
Quincy improved to 11-11 overall and will face Jonesville Friday night at 7 p.m. for the District title. In Wednesday’s opener, the Comets needed triple overtime to defeat Hudson 89-84.
Division 4 at Litchfield
Just two days after winning the school’s first-ever postseason game, Pansophia Academy’s season came to an abrupt conclusion at the Division 4 Litchfield District Semifinals. Concord led 54-6 at halftime and won the contest 80-21. The Pumas ended their season with a 3-10 record.
