JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson’s boys bowling team made it to the semifinals of the MHSAA Division 3 Team Finals Friday at Jax 60 in Jackson, but lost to the eventual champion Durand Railroaders.
The day started with the morning qualifying block of eight Baker games and two regular games, with the top eight teams advancing to match play. The Vikings were second with their combined score of 3366.
Match play consists of best-of-five Baker games, with tie games counting as 1/2 point and teams needing three points to advance. Bronson defeated Olivet in the quarterfinals 3.5-2.5 (212-191, 188-188, 207-212, 165-187, 245-202, 182-167) and lost to Durand 3-0 (181-143, 154-113, 216-204). Durand would go on to beat Romulus Summit Academy North in the finals 3-0 (176-126, 226-172, 210-197) for the school’s first championship in any sport.
Bronson’s Clayton Shortridge, Drew McConn, and Audrey Shiery, along with Quincy’s Drew Carlisle and Ally Janssen, will be at Jax 60 Saturday for the Division 3 Singles Finals, while Coldwater bowler Grace Tuttle will be at the Division 2 Singles Finals at Century Bowl in Waterford.
