Saturday, February 21 St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School hosted their first annual Science Olympiad.
Science Olympiad is a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math based competition. The goal is for Elementary and Middle School students to apply what they’re learning in the classroom with various competitions.
St. Charles students were split into two groups: Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8. They could compete in three different categories of contests: Construction, Knowledge, and Processes. Students could team up with students of the same or a different grade for their contests and compete in multiple contests.
In total, 31 students participated in 19 contests. Students were awarded medals if they won first or second place.
For grades 3-5, Egg Drop, What Went By?, and Sink or Float were our three most popular contests. For grades 6-8, Codebusters and Crime Busters were our two most popular contests.
