COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Anglers in Branch County can now gear up for the upcoming season as 2026 Michigan fishing licenses officially went on sale this week.
While the new license and regulation season does not begin until April 1, licenses purchased now are valid immediately and will remain in effect through March 31, 2027.
All residents aged 17 and older are required to hold a valid license to fish public waters, including local favorites like Coldwater Lake or the St. Joseph River.
Branch County residents can purchase their annual resident license for $26 (plus a $1 surcharge), while seniors aged 65 and older or those who are legally blind qualify for a discounted rate of $11.
Licenses are available for purchase online through the Michigan DNR eLicense website, via the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app, or at local authorized retailers
