ANN ARBOR, MI (WTVB) – A viral video from an Ann Arbor Smoothie King this past weekend has put a former Branch County couple in the national spotlight, after they were refused service due to a Donald Trump hoodie.
The incident occurred on Sunday when Erika Lindemyer and her husband, Jake formerly of Quincy, were allegedly denied service because Jake was wearing a hooded sweatshirt featuring President Donald Trump’s name.
In the footage, which has amassed hundreds of thousands of views, employees stated they felt “uncomfortable” serving the pair, leading the couple to label the refusal as illegal discrimination.
Lindemyer says he’s even received death threats when the video began drawing national attention
In response to the growing controversy, Smoothie King’s corporate office has announced that the franchise owner took “immediate action” and the two employees involved are no longer with the business.
