Robert Whiting Vincent, 88, of Coldwater passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Lakehouse of Coldwater.
A service will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
A visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born June 20, 1937, in Marshall, MI, the son of Earl Reed and Rosalyn Marie (Whiting) Vincent.
Bob’s education started with Conley (one room) school, and he graduated in 1956 from Marshall High School. He continued his education with a degree from Kellogg Community College. He then attended Michigan State University where he studied agriculture for 2 years and then transferred to Olivet College (University) and received a bachelor’s degree in biology.
For several years he was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Marshall where he served on The Vestry, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. He also married Kathryn Park there. They raised three children in Marshall. The marriage ended in divorce. While living in Marshall, Robert also served on the recreation, parks, and cemetery boards.
His employment started with Rockford Insurance Co. where he was a staff manager and district manager. He also worked for Corning Glass Packaging Co. In August of 1966 he began what would be a 29-year career as a Chemist at Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan. He retired from Kellogg’s in 1995.
Bob was a member of the 25-year club with Kellogg Company and a proud member of The Michigan Society of The Sons of the American Revolution, Westnedge Chapter.
On May 20, 1989, he married Ruby June Katz at the Coldwater Free Methodist Church, where they attended together for many years. Bob and June enjoyed 33 years of marriage until June preceded him in death in 2022.
After his retirement from Kellogg’s, he went into the wallpapering and painting business with his wife, June, until 2007. He then helped at the Free Methodist Church as a custodian. Bob also served as a trustee for the church, sang in the choir and served on the usher board as well as His Little Lambs Preschool Board.
Bob is survived by his children, William (Lisa) Vincent, Robert (Jill) Vincent and Karla (Randy) Ramon, sister Helen (John) Mellema, sister-in-law Roxie Vincent, stepchildren Chris (Trish) Katz, Kevin (Ruth) Katz and Melissa (Doug) Hoath and has 5 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, 10 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren and a special friend, Mary Robison.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby June, his parents, Earl and Rosalyn, his brother Richard Vincent, his granddaughter Kaycee Gaw, his first wife Kathy Parsons and his nephew Ross Vincent.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to His Little Lambs Preschool in Coldwater or Marshall Cross Country Ski Club.
