Edwin G. Hughes, 77, of Coldwater, passed away at Beacon Health in Kalamazoo.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held July 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
He was born in Bronson, MI, to Herschall and Helen (Gregg) Hughes July 30, 1948. Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1971.
Following his military service, Edwin worked for many years as a tractor mechanic at Bates–Ford Tractor in Coldwater, where he was known for his strong work ethic and mechanical skill until his retirement.
Edwin had a lifelong love for working with his hands. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering with tractors, lawn mowers, and the many vehicles he collected, and spending quiet time working on crossword puzzles. One of the places he cherished most was the family farm where he lived for many years, a place that meant a great deal to him and reflected his deep appreciation for country life.
Edwin is survived by his daughter, Anna (Steve) Frantom of Coldwater; his grandchildren Jordan (Jayley) Agar, Elaina Agar, Rebecca Frantom, Brennan Merriman; his great granddaughter Anna Agar; many nieces and nephews; and his former spouse Cheryl Hughes. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Hugh Hughes, Henrietta Hughes-Hitchcock, Elizabeth Fairfield, and Mary Jane Hughes.
