BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The City of Bronson will try again to get a Michigan D.N.R. grant to help fund a proposed Kiwanis Club Dog Park.
The Bronson City Council passed a resolution on Monday night which allows the city to submit an application for a grant totaling $115,800. The local match required is $38,600.
The City fell just short of receiving this grant during the last round. City Manager Brandon Mersman says the total estimated cost for construction is $154,400.
The proposed dog park would cover seven-tenths of an acre in Kiwanis Park on the city’s north side. It would include a gravel driveway, a handicap accessible parking area, and five-foot-high commercial-grade fencing.
It would also include universally accessible entrances and seating areas. Additionally, the park will include a drinking fountain with a pet hydration station.
Mersman says the development of a dog park aligns with community priorities, as it scored highly in the City’s Parks and Recreation Plan survey work.
