HOLLAND, MI (WTVB) – At the MHSAA Division 3 Lower Peninsula Boys Swim & Dive Finals at the Holland Aquatic Center, Coldwater’s Taylor Eberts and Cooper Otto made it to the second day of competition as the Cardinals finished 24th out of 37 teams with 21 points.
During Friday’s preliminaries, Eberts was 16th in the 200 freestyle (1:50.51) and 15th in the 500 freestyle (5:01.56). On Saturday, he earned All-State Honorable Mention in both events by finishing 15th in the 200 free final with a time of 1:49.87 and 15th in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.92
Friday in the prelims, Otto placed 9th in the 50 freestyle (:21.85) and 6th in the 100 backstroke (:54.71). He finished 11th in the 50 free final with a time of :21.96, earning an All-State Honorable Mention in the process. He also earned All-State recognition for his 8th place finish in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at :55.86.
As for Coldwater’s other entries in the Finals:
- The team of Otto, Everett Duff, Logun Fisher, and Mason Sabaitis finished 25th in the 200 medley relay during Friday’s prelims with a time of 1:47.77. The top 16 finishers in the prelims advanced to Saturday’s Finals.
- Diver Benny Travelbee was 24th with a five-dive score of 134.70 after the initial round of competition. The top twenty advanced to the semifinal round.
- The 200 freestyle relay team of Eberts, Ivan McConnell, Fisher, and Sabaitis finished 25th in Friday’s prelims with a time of 1:35.54.
- The 400 freestyle relay team of Eberts, Wyatt Lanning, Sabaitis, and Otto finished 21st in the prelims with their time of 3:29.16.
