COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A 19-year-old woman from Benton Harbor was hospitalized following a single-vehicle accident that ended in Coldwater Lake, early Saturday morning.
Branch County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of Centennial and Warren Roads after the driver failed to stop, continuing south through the intersection. The vehicle struck an outdoor fireplace and a boat lift before plunging into the lake and overturning.
The driver managed to escape the submerged vehicle on her own and was transported to Insight Medical Center Coldwater, by police for treatment of minor injuries and symptoms of hypothermia.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by the Lakeland Fire Department, Michigan State Police and VIP Auto . The crash remains under investigation by local authorities
