STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A late-night retail theft at the Sturgis Meijer, escalated into a police pursuit early Monday morning.
Sturgis police say around round 1:45 a.m. Monday morning , officers responded to call for felony retail fraud and a hit-and-run involving a U-Haul truck driving without its headlights.
After the truck was spotted by police, the driver attempted to flee, leading officers on a chase that ended when the truck crashed on Franks Avenue.
Following the collision, both occupants fled the scene on foot. Police successfully detained a female suspect, who was subsequently arrested on several Felony charges, including resisting arrest and probation violation.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and an arrest warrant is being sought for the second suspect, as they finalize charges for both individuals involved.
