PITTSFORD, MI (WTVB) – A Pittsford family has been displaces due to a fire that destroyed their home Tuesday morning.
The Hudson Fire Department was dispatched around 8:29 a.m. and arrived to find the residence mostly engulfed in flames with heavy black smoke. While the young family living there was displaced, no human injuries were reported; however, firefighters were unable to rescue the family’s pets in time.
The intensity of the blaze required a massive response from six other agencies providing mutual aid.
The fire was hot enough to melt a gas meter at a neighboring home and cause significant exterior damage to a home just to the east of the burning structure.
Utility crews from Michigan Gas Utilities and the Hillsdale Board of Public Utilities were also called to the scene to handle downed power lines and gas risks.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
