BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners has approved the creation of an Opioid Settlement Emerging Needs Fund with an initial $200,000 appropriation to address urgent, time-sensitive needs related to the opioid crisis.
The fund is designed for rapid-response support in prevention, treatment, and recovery, allowing for flexibility as the crisis evolves without utilizing taxpayer dollars from the General Fund.
Eligible local governments, tribal governments, and nonprofits can apply on a rolling basis, complementing the county’s existing annual grant programs.
This initiative is part of a larger, 18-year, $13.2 million national and regional settlement expected to support ongoing community efforts.
