STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) A new feasibility study released this week by AM Steinberg Advisors suggests that a proposed destination casino in Steuben County could generate between $14.1 million and $16.6 million in annual local gaming tax revenue.
According to the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly, the study was commissioned by the Steuben County Economic Development Corp., and highlights the county’s strategic location at the intersection of Interstate 69 and the Indiana Toll Road as a primary driver for economic success.
Projected as a $500 million investment, the casino would feature a full-scale resort including a hotel with up to 250 beds, a spa, and multiple dining options. Beyond tax revenue, the study projects the creation of 800 to 1,200 full-time jobs with an estimated annual payroll of up to $72 million with average salaries ranging between $45,000-$60,000
According to the study estimated revenue generated by the casino, 62% would come from out of state visitors, while 38% would come from Indiana residents.
Steuben County is currently vying for the license against Allen and DeKalb counties. Although the state legislation does not strictly require a local referendum, Steuben County commissioners have expressed a commitment to seeking community input before moving forward with any final agreements.
