Grace was born August 30, 1938 in Coldwater to Harold and Elsie (Tefft) McNall. A lifelong resident of the area, she carried with her a deep love for her community and the people who made it home.
December 8, 1957, she married the love of her life, Roland D. Houtz, in Coldwater. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and shared devotion until his passing June 18, 1998.
Grace enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with First National Bank in Quincy, where she worked from 1961 until her retirement in 1995. She took pride in her work and formed many lasting friendships throughout her years there.
A woman of strong faith, Grace was a devoted member of Union Church in Quincy, where she found great joy in singing with the choir. Her commitment to her community was evident through her involvement in numerous organizations, including the Bronson Woman’s Child Study, Bronson Flower Talk, and the Coldwater Woman’s Moose Auxiliary College of Regents, where she was honored as a lifetime member.
She also faithfully served as Quincy Township Clerk and dedicated her time as Secretary of the Quincy Chain of Lakes Tip-Up Festival, where she coordinated the festival’s pageant for many years.
Grace embraced life with enthusiasm and found happiness in many simple pleasures. She loved the excitement of stock car racing, the camaraderie of bowling, and the peacefulness of boating, camping, and salmon fishing. She enjoyed playing cards, dice, and bingo, always bringing laughter and warmth to those around her. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful rose gardens, and her creative spirit shone through her crocheting, where she lovingly crafted and donated countless baby blankets to expecting mothers.
Above all, Grace’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with them, offering unwavering love, kindness, and support that will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Grace’s life was a testament to generosity, faith, and love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Grace leaves behind her sons Mark (Theresa Treadwell) Houtz of Lansing, MI, Randy (Jo Ann) Houtz of Bronson; her sister Dena (Larry) Newman of Battle Creek, MI; her grandchildren Jennifer (Bram) Rigterink, Heather (Justin) Chamberlain, Joseph (Nicole) Houtz, Jeffrey (Ragen) Houtz, Mahayla (Danute) Davis, Mariah Treadwell; her 14 great grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews and her extended family and cherished friends Gene (Shirley) Brand.
