COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater improved to 2-0 on the young girls soccer season with a 3-1 home win against Michigan Center.
Samantha Bernard scored the first goal of the game just 6:25 into the contest, assisted by Juliana McCuen. Michigan Center converted a penalty kick early in the second half to knot the game at 1-1. Etta Machan scored the game winner with 4:34 left in the contest and added an insurance score two minutes later. Bernard and Aivry Chavez recorded assists on Machan’s goals, while Abby Garcia had 5 saves.
Coldwater will take part in the Tecumseh Invitational on Saturday. The Cardinal JV squad, meanwhile, will make their season debut on Friday when they host Battle Creek Central.
VERMONTVILLE, MI – Itzel Albarran recorded a hat trick for Bronson, scoring three goals in the Vikings’ 5-0 shutout victory at Maple Valley in their season debut. Journey Smith also scored, and Jazmin Luna-Rincon notched her first career high school goal. Elizabeth Ortiz made three saves.
Bronson will play their home opener Wednesday against Springport.
