COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – President Donald Trump issued what he termed a final warning to the Iranian regime on Tuesday morning, stating that a “whole civilization will die tonight” if Tehran does not meet an 8:00 p.m. ET deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
During a social media-driven ultimatum, the President specified that failure to agree to a deal—which includes the complete reopening of the critical oil thoroughfare—will result in the “complete demolition” of every power plant and bridge across the country. While Trump noted he remains open to a “revolutionarily wonderful” diplomatic resolution, he stressed that previous ceasefire proposals, including a 45-day Pakistan-brokered plan, were “not good enough” to avert the looming strikes.

In response to the escalating threats, Iranian leaders have rejected the ultimatum as “delusional” and “rude rhetoric,” instead calling for a permanent end to hostilities and the total lifting of sanctions. State media reports indicate that officials in Tehran have urged civilians, including students and athletes, to form human chains around vital power plants to serve as shields against the threatened American and Israeli bombardment.
As the deadline approaches, the United Nations and various international organizations have warned that targeting civilian infrastructure would constitute a war crime, a charge the President dismissed at a recent news conference by stating his primary concern is preventing the regime from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
