COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal track teams welcomed Marshall to Cardinal Field Tuesday for the first meet of the 2026 season and split with the Redhawks.
Coldwater’s boys lost to Marshall 71-62. Travon Mitchell won both hurdle races, while Jackson Reilly won both the shot put and discus. Other individual winners for the Cardinals were Evan Lewis in the 200m and Trevor Mitchell in the 400m. The team of Trevor Mitchell, Mason Sabaitis, Drew Vanderpuyl, and Landon Dirschell won the the 4x400m relay, while Vanderpuyl, Lucas Newberry, Sebastian Hernandez, and Luke Aerts teams up to win the 4x800m relay.
The Lady Cards edged the Redhawks 66-62. Miyah Moore was a triple winner, finishing first in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Gwen Eby won the 800m and 1600m, while Marie Powers won both the shot put and discus. Coldwater’s other winners were Ella Thompson in the long jump, the 4x200m relay team of Khloe Gleeson, Samantha Bernard, Claire Paul, and Harper Anglin, and the 4x800m relay team of Morgan Baker, Eby, Paul, and Anglin.

OLIVET, MI – The Quincy Oriole track teams participated in their first outdoor meet of the season Tuesday, traveling to Olivet for a quad meet with Maple Valley and Morrice.
Quincy’s boys team defeated Maple Valley 114-21, beat Morrice 112-24, and lost to Olivet 80-57. Noah Rufenacht was a double winner, finishing first in the high jump and long jump. Other winners for the Orioles include Hunter Walker in the 3200m, and Clayton Benson in the 110m hurdles,
The Lady Orioles beat Maple Valley 82-52, defeated Morrice 84-49, and lost to Olivet 87-48. Addison Hasten was a double winner in the shot put and discus. Also winning for Quincy were Kendyl Musielewicz in the 800m, Ashlyn Fickle in the high jump, and Piper Craig in the pole vault.

Coldwater will host Quincy, Bronson, Union City, Hillsdale Academy, Loy Norrix, and Parma Western for the Branch County Early Qualifier Meet Saturday. Athletes can qualify for the State Finals directly from this meet by by meeting the published early qualifying standards in their division.
