COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Super El Niño it’s term you will probably hear a lot in the coming weeks and months.
Meteorologists are warning that a rapidly developing Super El Niño in the Pacific Ocean could significantly disrupt weather patterns across Southern Michigan starting this summer.
While typical summers see little immediate impact, early long-range forecasts from NOAA suggest a potential shift toward slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures by late summer, particularly in July and August. As the system strengthens into the fall, residents in Branch County should expect a transition toward drier and warmer-than-average conditions, as the strengthening Pacific jet stream begins to push storm tracks further south and away from the Great Lakes region.
