BARRY COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A 19-year-old Coldwater man is fighting for his life following a serious two-vehicle collision Thursday afternoon in Barry Counties Assyria Township.
The Barry County Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred around 2:44 p.m. near the intersection South M-66 and Tasker Road. The say a northbound Toyota Camry was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with a southbound GMC Acadia that was attempting to turn east onto Tasker Road.
The impact was severe enough to eject multiple passengers from the GMC Acadia. The 19-year-old victim was airlifted from the scene via Memorial MedFlight with life-threatening injuries, while three other occupants of the GMC were transported to local hospitals by EMS.
Multiple agencies, including the Nashville and Barry Township police departments and several fire crews, assisted at the scene. The crash remains under active investigation by the Barry County Sheriff’s Office. So far the identities of those involved have not been released.
