Cynthia Kay “Cindy” Carpenter, 74, of Hillsdale passed away Saturday. April 4, 2026 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo.
In keeping with her wishes, Cindy will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026 at North Reading Baptist Church, 7200 Bankers Rd., Reading, MI.
Visitation will be held prior to the celebration of life, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Cindy was born March 16, 1952, to Mac and Joyce (Pridgeon) Carpenter in Hillsdale, Michigan. She graduated from Reading High School with the Class of 1970. She continued her education after high school, attending several different colleges. She received her bachelor’s degree from the former John Wesley College in Owosso.
Cindy worked at Lincoln Life Insurance Company of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Following that, she worked as a home caregiver.
She was always known as someone who would volunteer her time to help anyone.
Cindy was an active member of North Reading Baptist Church and was attending the Pine Ridge Women’s Bible Study. She also actively volunteered at June’s Place in Reading. Cindy was a past member of the Rotary Club and The Wednesday Club. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, reading, decorating for Christmas (known for her house looking like Frankenmuth), spending time with family, and family dinners.
Cindy is survived by her siblings, Alan (Ina) Carpenter of Reading, Sandy (Paul) Bartlett of Coldwater, Doug (Louise) Carpenter of Reading, and Lainie (Louie) Wortz of Quincy; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents.
