COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball Tuesday, Coldwater struggled to get any offense going and dropped both ends of an Interstate 8 Conference doubleheader to Parma Western by scores of 10-0 and 9-1.
The Cardinals are now 2-2 in the I-8 and 6-8 overall.
The Coldwater J.V. baseball team lost to Parma Western 9-1 in the first game of a doubleheader. The second game was called with the score tied 1-1.
Bronson swept a Big 8 Conference doubleheader from Springport by scores of 12-2 and 15-3. Brett Sikorski and Ethan Cossairt were the winning pitchers as the Vikings improved to 12-1 overall and 5-1 in the Big 8.
Hudson Wotta had a big day at the plate. He homered and drove in three runs in the opener. He then had three hits including a triple and four RBI’s in the nightcap. Sikorski and Colin Ransbottom both had two RBI’s in the second game.
Union City took a Big 8 Conference doubleheader from Quincy by scores of 2-0 and 13-1. Colton Johns tossed a three hitter and was the winning pitcher in the opener as he outdueled Caleb McCavit. The Chargers scored in the fourth and added an unearned run in the sixth inning. McCavit held the Chargers to just one hit. The junior righty has allowed just one earned run in his last 20 innings.
The Chargers broke the nightcap open with eight runs in the fourth. Winning pitcher Blade Gordon homered for the Chargers. The Orioles fall to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in the Big 8.
