COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school softball, Coldwater split an Interstate 8 Conference doubleheader with Parma Western as they won the opener but lost the nightcap, both by 5-1 scores.
Darlene Horn was the winning pitcher in the opener as she struck out seven. Horn also had two hits and two RBI’s. Samantha Rodesiler also drove in two runs. Dru Mullin had a double in the second game.
The Coldwater J.V. team was swept by Parma Western by scores of 22-19 and 17-15. Emma Stanley, Mallory Kissinger, Mackenzie Koch, and Autumn Sunderland all had three hits in the first game. Bailey Burkhardt, Jasmine Coppess, Mallory Kissinger, Anna Tappenden, and Alyssa Bach each had two hits on the game.
Bronson improved to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in the Big 8 with a doubleheader sweep of Springport winning by scores of 11-1 and 17-3. Aubrey Ballou was the winning pitcher in both games as she did not allow any earned runs. Payton Robinson had three hits and three RBI’s in the first game.
Kaitlyn Czajkowski had two doubles in the second game. She along with Robinson, Araceli Hernandez, Dakota Smith and Keary Allen all had two RBI’s in the nightcap.
Quincy swept a Big 8 Conference doubleheader from Union City. The Orioles won the opener 6-5 in eight innings as well as the nightcap 14-2. Kelsey Mainstone and Morgan Michael were the winning pitchers for the Orioles who are now 6-0 in the Big 8. Mickeya Signor had three hits in both games for Quincy. Autumn Carpenter collected three hits including a triple for Union City in the first game. Allison Adams also had a triple.
