COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals boys basketball team has opened the condensed 2021 season with two straight wins on the road.
The Cardinals didn’t put up as many points on the scoreboard as they did at Jackson Lumen Christi in their season opener but they still managed to win at Hastings on Thursday night 48-35.
Brandon Downs led the Cardinals with 17 points while Evan Sloan had eight points and nine rebounds. Ethan Crabtree had seven points and led Coldwater in rebounding with 11.
Crabtree and Spencer Rodesiler both dished out four assists while Lu Lebron and Nate Tappenden both had three steals.
Coldwater swept the underclassmen games. The Cardinals won the JV game 55-42. Elijah Sloan led Codlwater with 15 points while Zach Coffing had 13 points and Aiden Marsden had 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Coldwater also won the freshman contest 44-36 as Tyson Roby led all scorers with 18 points.
