COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There are very slick driving conditions this morning in parts of Branch County because of a light snowfall that started early today.
A semi tractor trailer that jackknifed on northbound I-69 near the Fenn Road exit south of Coldwater at around 4:50 a.m. closed the expressway for just over two hours. That portion of the interstate reopened at about 7:00 a.m..
The snow turned heavy for a time with near whiteout conditions reported overnight on Coldwater’s eastside, with several slide-off accidents on northbound I-69 near US 12 leading to a partial closure of the highway for almost an hour. No injuries were reported.
The first incident occurred at 2:15 a.m. with three more slide-offs happening around 3:00 a.m. when the worst of the visibility was reported. The northbound lane of I-69 was shut down in the first round of incidents from 3:00 a.m. and reopened 50 minutes later.
