COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school tennis Wednesday, Coldwater fell to Sturgis 6-2.
Coldwater winners were first doubles Gabby Boston/Samantha Youse over Jaylyn Kelley/Zoe Yoquelet 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 in a 3 hour match. Coldwater 4th doubles team of Mikaela Daoud/Payton Molnar defeated Jesica Haller/Fuuka Kainuma 6-1, 6-3.
Other scores were No. 1 singles Meredith Griffe lost to Katie Horn 6-1, 6-1, No. 2 singles Emily Foulk lost to Krista Hart 6-0, 6-3, No. 3 singles Loveleen Lalia lost to Lilly Rehm 6-1, 6-4 and No. 4 singles Mae Blansit lost to Hope Eichorn 6-0, 6-0.
The other 2 doubles teams consisting of No. 2 doubles Merlyn Johnson/Amber Aquire lost to Ainhoa Crariotto/Madeline Harker 6-1, 6-4 and No. 3 doubles team of Melissa Vozar/Faith Herendeen lost to Becca Barkely/Anna Schuller 6-4, 6-3.
The Coldwater JV team lost to Sturgis 7-1. The lone winner was 3rd singles player Brynn Niedzwiecki, who defeated Leah Smith 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 in a 3 hour marathon. In exhibition, doubles team Veronica Arroy/Andrea Compo and Alexis Knapp/Paige Curry were victorious.
