SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Monday night explosion in a Sherwood Township dumpster that could be heard a half mile away is under investigation by the Michigan State Police.
The blast was reported at about 9:50 p.m. in the 150 Block of Oliverda Drive, just west of Kenyon Lake
Investigators say the explosion threw debris more than 60 feet out of the dumpster. The contents of the dumpster and the trash thrown from it caught on fire as a result.
The fire was put out by the Sherwood Township Fire Department.
The incident appears to be intentional. Samples are being sent to the State Police forensic laboratory for testing.
