SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A 32-year-old man had to be taken to a Kalamazoo hospital Saturday afternoon after he accidentally shot himself with a handgun in the lower leg. Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler says deputies were dispatched to an address on Vogel Drive in Sherwood Township at about 4:15 p.m.
They found that first aid was being rendered by witnesses at the scene. The victim was awake and able to verify the wound was accidental. Eichler says the injury did not appear to be life threatening.
Deputies assisted with medical care until LifeCare Ambulance arrived and continued to assist them until the victim was transported to the hospital.
This incident remains under investigation. Branch County Deputies were assisted by Union City Police along with LifeCare personnel.
