UNDATED (WTVB) – The wintry weather has moved back in with temperatures in the low to mid 30s and wind chills near 20. That is weather we would expect in January or February. But this is the first week of April when highs should be in the low 50s. The extended forecast says the cold temperatures are expected to last into early next week.
You may recall this past winter featured some unseasonably warm days. Highs in Coldwater of 63 degrees on February 20th and 58 on January 11th are downright tropical compared to the weather for the rest of this week.
While you’re watching the Masters in all of Augusta National Golf Club’s springtime splendor this weekend, spring weather will continue to be a rumor in Michigan.
Highs on Saturday and Sunday will struggle to get into the upper 30s.
The colder weather moved in after some thunderstorms rumbled through the area late Tuesday afternoon and early Tuesday evening.
Along with the lightning and heavy rains, National Weather Service observers reported dime sized hail in Sherwood, half inch hail in Montgomery and three-quarter inch hail in Nevada Mills west of Angola.
Skiers are happy in parts of the Upper Peninsula and the northern Lower Peninsula after a snowstorm dumped up to a foot of snow.
Petosky reported 12 inches of snow, while ten inches fell at Rudyard, eight-and-a-half inches at Cheboygan, seven inches at Trout Lake, and six-and-a-half inches at Interlochen.
