COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The unemployment rate in Branch County during February 2018 held nearly steady at 4.9%, after being at 5% in January. According to figures from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, Branch County had the 15th lowest unemployment rate in February.
As for neighboring counties, St. Joseph had the sixth lowest rate in Michigan at 4.1% Hillsdale County was at 5.1% and Calhoun County was at 5.6%.
Branch County had a labor force in February of 19,137 with 936 members of the labor force unemployed.
The state says total employment and workforce levels went up in all 17 regions.
The statewide unemployment rate for February was 4.8%.
