COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -A Coldwater man entered a guilty plea Monday in the Branch County Circuit Court to an amended charge of attempted bribing, interfering or intimidating a witness.
45-year-old Brian Michael is scheduled to be sentenced on April 16, 2018.
He was originally arrested November 16, 2017 after he allegedly tried to strangle a female acquaintance at a Jackson Street residence.
Michael was then accused by authorities a few weeks later of violating a personal protection order by calling the alleged victim numerous times in an attempt to get the original charges of strangulation and domestic violence dropped.
The charges filed following the alleged incident on Jackson Street are not part of the plea agreement but the violation of the personal protection order as well as a charge of witness bribing, interfering or intimidation would be dismissed in exchange for Monday’s guilty plea.
