COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Several dozen families in Branch County will be helped with one time emergency heating payments, thanks to Community Action’s Walk For Warmth this past Saturday in Coldwater.
Between monies brought in by walkers at the 33rd annual event Saturday, WTVB Ken Delaney’s Walk Across Branch County this past Thursday, and a donation from Consumers Energy, over $6,600 was raised. That money will be combined with dollars from the federal government for emergency heating assistance this winter and spring.
The walk in Coldwater was headquartered at the United Methodist Church. Similar fundraising walks were held across the state Saturday, including in Union City. Money from the Union City walk will also be used for emergency assistance in Branch County
