COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s a 17 mile trek that takes about 7 hours, but over the past 21 years it has raised over $50,000 for emergency heating assistanmce in Branch County.
WTVB’s Ken Delaney will hold his annual Walk Across Branch County today, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Bronson McDonald’s restaurant, finishing at the Quincy McDonald;s this afternoon.
Money raised Thursday, along with Community Action’s Walk for Warmth Saturday, help Branch County households that face heat related emergencies. Last year 11 households, totaling 30 family members, were assisted with their utility bills. Community Action oaid an average household bill of $325.21.
Of the familes assisted in the Branch County area, the average annual householfd income was $4,053.62.
