OVID TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A wood burning stove is being listed as the cause of a fire which destroyed a detached garage early Thursday morning in the 400 block of Grass Lake Road near Rose Lake in Branch County’s Ovid Township.
Lakeland Fire Chief Paul Searing says the fire was reported by the property owner and several neighbors at about 12:45 a.m.
He says the building was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. It took firefighters about a half hour to get the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.
Life Care Ambulance and a Consumers Energy crew were also called in.
Minor damage was reported to a nearby house.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 2:34 a.m..
