COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -A Sherwood Township man is being held in the Branch County Jail on a $100,000 bond following his arrest on a three count criminal sexual conduct warrant.
43-year old Scott Alan Shelts is accused of sexually assaulting a minor under the age of 13.
A District Court spokesperson says he was taken into custody Monday at the Branch County Courthouse where he was scheduled to be sentenced in a domestic violence case. That sentencing hearing will have to be rescheduled.
After his arrest, Shelts was arraigned in Branch County District Court on one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct.
A no contact order was issued on behalf of the alleged victim should he post bond.
A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for next Tuesday with a preliminary exam February 20, 2018.
The case was investigated by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
