COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say a suspect was arrested Tuesday in a domestic violence case that included a request for a felony charge.
The incident allegedly occurred in a home on Church Street where the female victim lived with the man accused of punching her several times in the head and destroying her cell phone when she tried to contact police.
According to officers, the 26-year old victim’s sister arrived at the Church Street residence and found the front door locked and heard screaming inside, prompting her to call 911 around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police arrived and took into custody the 26-year old suspect, whose name is being withheld pending arraignment today in Branch County District Court.
Officers said the victim was holding her infant child when the woman was assaulted. City Police requested that the suspect be charged with the felony of interfering with a 911 call as well as domestic violence and child endangerment.
There was no request for an ambulance to treat the victim while the Department of Human Services was contacted to review the case.
