COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater High School Principal Bill Milnes is back on the job.
Milnes had to take a medical leave last fall after being diagnosed with cancer. He got a big welcome back from students and staff last week.
Milnes had to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He recently said on his Facebook page that his throat is getting better and his speaking voice is getting louder but he can’t speak for very long.
The last challenge in Milnes’ recovery is his tongue which was badly damaged by the radiation treatment.
Doug Bower and Krista Searles both served as assistant principals while Milnes was away.
Bower came out of retirement to help out. He previously served as principal at Coldwater’s Jefferson Elementary.
