COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Michigan State Police traffic stop of a car on I-69 in Branch County has landed the driver in the county jail on felony weapon and meth possession charges.
An MSP Southwest Michigan traffic detail made the arrest Friday morning on the highway south of Coldwater near Pearl Road in Ovid Township. 44-year old Edward Chiarini of Lockwood, New York was pulled over for improper lane usage.
Troopers searched the 2005 Lincoln with Texas plates and said they found methamphetamine and a .40 caliber handgun.
Chiarini was arraigned Monday in Branch County District Court on 3 counts and his bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety. He’s scheduled for a probable cause hearing January 30, 2018.
