BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Five new members of the Bronson Hall of Fame will be formally inducted Friday night during the Quincy/Bronson basketball doubleheader.
The new members of the Hall are Kyle Ganton, Vera Hurd, Larry McConn, Ellen Shoun and Brent Wilber.
Ganton is a 2003 Bronson graduate where he was a three sport athlete. His many accomplishments on the basketball court included being a Class C All-Stater and scoring the second most career points for the Vikings boys basketball program.
Ganton later played at Huntington University where he was a three time NAIA All-American and played on the national runner up team in 2006.
Hurd help get girls sports underway during the 1970-71 school year while she was a teacher at Bronson. She was a coach for several sports and was a cheerleading advisor.
McConn worked for the Bronson school district for 26 years as the School Bus Supervisor and mechanic. He has also served the Bronson Fire Department for 43 years and has been involved in Bronson City Government for 25 years which includes six years as mayor.
Shoun taught chemistry, physical science and math at Bronson High School. She began the group BEGGERS, an acronym for Bronson Environmental Group Gathering and Recycling Solids. Shoun also worked at the Branch County Library and was instrumental in establishing the Bronson Community Food Pantry in 1993, serving as it the director for 20 years.
Wilber served the Bronson Fire Department for 37 years and was its Chief for 19 years before retiring in 2016. The Bronson native and his family have owned White Star Auction since 1968. He has also served on the Branch County 4-H Foundation and Central Dispatch Boards.
